11 Software as a service
программное обеспечение как услуга
Модель предложения программного обеспечения потребителю, при которой поставщик разрабатывает веб-приложение, размещает его и управляет им (самостоятельно либо через третьих лиц) с целью и возможностью использования заказчиками через Интернет. Заказчики платят не за владение программным обеспечением как таковым, а за его использование (через API, доступный через веб и часто использующий веб-службы). Близким к термину SaaS является термин "приложение по запросу" (On-Demand).
Принципиальным отличием модели SaaS от более ранних (Hosted Applications и Application Service Provider (ASP)) является то, что приобретается именно услуга и интерфейс (пользовательский или программный), то есть некоторая функциональность без жесткой привязки к способу ее реализации.
В модели SaaS:
Приложение приспособлено для удаленного использования;
Одним приложением пользуется несколько клиентов (приложение коммунально);
Оплата взымается как ежемесячная абонентская плата или на основе объема транзакций;
Поддержка приложения входит в состав оплаты;
Модернизация приложения происходит плавно и прозрачно для клиентов. [Википедия]
